“Beautiful means full of beauty. Beautiful is not about the appearance of your outsides- beautiful is about what you’re made of. Beautiful women are women who spend time discovering what they love – what sings to them –what their idea of beauty on this Earth is. Then they make time each day to fill themselves up with that beauty. They know themselves well enough to know what they love, and they love themselves enough to fill up with a little of their particular kind of beauty each day…Beautiful women glow. When you are with a beautiful woman you will not so much notice her hair or skin or body or clothes – because you’ll be distracted by the way she makes you feel.” ~Glennon Doyle Melton

Never have I found such a wonderful description of beauty. I think too often it’s thought of in its base form, which is that of appearances. But gold leaf is only surface deep. To tap into the vein of gold is to glow, as you meld the two selves, the inner with the outer, resulting in beauty -the shimmering eternal essence of all that is.

I grew up with one of the best examples of a beautiful woman, my mother. I don’t believe I truly appreciated the silent lessons she taught me until I became a mother, and, more recently, a woman. I’m not sure exactly how it’s happened, but I feel like I’ve finally crossed the threshold to womanhood. I feel I join the ranks of many who have come before, forging the way. I’m very thankful to those women and my mother. This rite of passage is not something that came through age, having a child, nor through achieving anything other than delving into myself to find my voice, to find my I am, to glow and grow into this beautiful skin I call home.

In finding the things that fill me up, my glow, I feel it’s time for me to step away and work on the stories I have living in my heart and soul. The woman who started along the blogging path, isn’t the same woman who continues today. The woman today wants to devote her stolen hours to finishing Glow and Anachel. While I hope to come back one day, until then…

Be brave, be bold, be you…and I hope you glow.
